Virtual conferences have emerged in force, and it appears they are here to stay. Here are a few tips to help ensure you get the most out of the experience.
GIVE IT A TRY
- Test the technology
You don’t want to pay to attend a conference and then have technical hiccups. Make sure your tech works before logging in.
TIME MANAGEMENT
- Block your calendar
Take enough time to engage in every element available – presentations, handouts, partner booths, live chats, and more. This is easier said than done when you’re attending a conference from home. Give yourself permission to forgo email, appointments, chores, and other interruptions until later, just as you would if you were attending a live conference.
NO NOISE
- Turn off phone and email notifications
When you’re watching alone, it’s easy to “multi-task” and get distracted. Put your handheld devices out of reach to minimize the temptation of checking email or scrolling through social media.
TIMELY SOUND BITES
- Be prepared
One of the best things about going virtual is you can share anytime, anyplace and anywhere. So, come prepared to share.
